FDA approved Acai berry fruit
The United States Food and Drug
Administration (FDA) has not yet officially approved Acai berry
fruit as it is a produce item of another country, and it connot
be grown inside the USA. Particular bottling plants that bottle
Acai Berry Juice have in fact already been FDA approved, which
basically means that the US government approves of the safe
handling procedures that those companies use to bottle a food
source.
Because the primary source of Acai berry is
Brazil, it is up to the Brazilian government to approve the
Acai berry fruit, which they have for their own internal use...
Which they clearly have as evidenced by the large population of
Rio De Janiero which consumes on average at least two
servings of Acai each and every day!
The United States FDA is not likely to
approve or deny the Acai berry itself in the forseeable
future, mainly because it will not likely be a produce
item here... If an Acai berry is grown here then the lack
of extreme environment will make the Acai berry no better
than a grape... It is the harsh environment and intense UV
rays in the Amazonian rainforest that make the Acai berry
such a great source of antioxidants and nutrients.
For nutritional information of any Acai
berry-derived product including natural forms of the Acai fruit
you find outside of Brazil, you'll simply have to contact the
manufacturer of the product as designated on the label.
